Team-based projects are a common element of experiential, project-based, and community-engaged courses, giving students opportunities to work collaboratively on real-world or authentic problems. While these experiences can increase engagement and build professional skills, they can also create challenges related to communication, accountability, and team dynamics. This faculty roundtable brings together instructors who use or are considering using team-based projects to share approaches, tools, and lessons learned to support effective student collaboration. Relevant for instructors at any stage of designing or refining group-based learning activities.
By the end of the roundtable, you will be able to:
Recognize common challenges associated with student teams and discuss strategies for addressing them.
Explore practical approaches that support communication, accountability, and effective collaboration.
Identify at least one strategy, tool, or idea they could adapt for use in their own course.
