About Real Estate Colloquium: Real Estate Colloquium provides an overview of the real estate field through weekly sessions with industry professionals. Each session covers diverse topics including finance, investment, law, planning, public policy, REITs, capital markets, leasing, brokerage, and development. Representatives from across the industry share insights into career paths and provide a comprehensive view of this multifaceted field.

The Corcoran Center for Real Estate and Urban Action welcomes Guest Speaker, Bill Kane. He will give a short 30 minute presentation. Following, there will then be a moderated discussion conducted with Patrick Ryan.

Guest Speaker: Bill Kane is President of East Coast and UK Markets at BioMed Realty, a private real estate provider that owns and operates 17 million square feet of innovation space in dense urban clusters within the United States and United Kingdom. Prior to joining BioMed, Bill was responsible for the development of R&D, hospital, and office real estate development projects for the Fallon Company, Davis Marcus Partners, Lyme Properties, and Turner Construction. Mr. Kane received a BS in Civil Engineering from Tufts University, and an MIS/MBA dual degree from Boston University and serves on the boards of the Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute, the Gloucester Biotech Academy, MassEcon, and CitySprouts and is an active supporter of the Marblehead Food Pantry, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Coregiving, St Johns Preparatory School, and the Tufts University Rowing Team. Bill currently lives with his wife and four children in Marblehead, MA.

Guest Moderator: Patrick Ryan is President of Cabot Properties. He oversees the implementation of firm strategy to ensure positive outcomes for investors. In addition, he directs all investment activity for Value Funds VI and VII and their associated co-investment vehicles, and Opportunity Fund I. He also applies his 27 years of real estate experience to capital raising and investor outreach. Pat serves on the Investment Committee for all current, active funds and separate accounts. He has served at every level of the Investment Group since joining Cabot as an Analyst in 2000. He started in real estate in 1992 with General Investment & Development Company, holding property management positions until 1998. Pat holds a BA from Boston College and an MBA from Boston University.
