This hit musical theater production written by Lin Manuel-Miranda will be produced as part of a campus and community celebration of Hispanic musical traditions and cultural heritage.
Directed by Breana Clark with music direction by Isaac Hernandez, In the Heights is a Tony award-winning musical that celebrates the vibrant Dominican American community of Washington Heights in upper Manhattan. Featuring members of the local community, many with a Pitt State connection, the production brings the energy and spirit of the neighborhood to life through a story centered on family, identity, and pursuing dreams. A live pit orchestra will be comprised of Pitt State students, faculty, alumni, and community members.
Performances will be held at the Memorial Auditorium Oct. 15, 16, and 18. (The previously advertised date of Oct. 17 was moved to accommodate Pitt State Homecoming!)
Additional events are planned as part of the Hispanic Music Festival through Oct. 18. Details: https://pittstate.edu/music/hispanic-music-festival.html
