The USC Department of Population and Public Health Sciences (PPHS) will host its annual PPHS Research Symposium on Thursday, October 8, 2026 – a full day of research presentations and posters showcasing the breadth and depth of work across the department. This year’s theme is Translational AI in Public Health Research. The symposium will feature presentations by faculty from each of PPHS’ five divisions, posters from trainees at all levels, and brief research talks from postdoctoral fellows. Keynote speakers include Vas Anest, PhD (KSOM’s Chief Innovation Officer) and David Friedland, MD, PhD (KSOM’s Director of Clinical Artificial Intelligence Applications). Topics will include how AI may impact the future of public health research, harnessing AI to improve health at the population level, and how AI tools and methods are being used in disease surveillance and prevention. The symposium aims to foster cross-division collaboration, promote team science, and strengthen connections that support the development of research centers and institutes within PPHS. All USC faculty, staff, and students are welcome. View the list of speakers and RSVP here: https://pphs-research.usc.edu/
