If you love solving puzzles and challenging math problems, this is for you!
The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is the preeminent mathematics competition for undergraduates in the United States and Canada. Please let Dr. Lee know if you are interested in having training sessions by September 18, 5pm. If there is enough interest with 4 or more students, future practice sessions will be arranged.
The competition itself will be on Saturday, December 5th, 2026, with the first half from 9 am to noon and the second half from 2 pm to 5 pm. Students will gather in Tucker 352 by 8:45 am. If you are interested in participating, you must click to sign up
for the competition directly. The link is specific for TCU undergraduates. The sign-up is very quick; I suggest you sign up early, and no later than December 2.
You can find additional information about TCU Putnam Competition here. For further questions, please email Dr. Eun Hye Lee at [email protected].
Although preparation is optional, if you have not taken the Putnam before, we recommend at least reading some old A1 and B1 problems and solutions to get acquainted with the style of the problems on the competition. The best site for previous tests and the solutions is Kiran Kedlaya’s the Putnam Archive. We also urge you to read this nice article on how to write a solution.
Thank you,
Dr. Lee
