Celebrated author Anna Harwell Celenza will present on her recently released ‘On the Record: Music that Changed America” on Tuesday, October 27 at 6pm. This will take place at Storied Bookery at 201 Cox Avenue Suite 3 in Hattiesburg.
Celenza is a professor at Johns Hopkins University, where she holds a joint appointment in The Writing Seminars (Krieger School of Arts & Sciences) and the Musicology Department (Peabody Conservatory). She is also a co-founder of Music Policy Forum, a non-profit that advises local governments on creating sustainable music ecosystems.
“On the Record” explores the surprising story of how iconic works of music sparked debate and action in the halls of Congress. This title adds to a remarkable output in which Anna bridges worlds: her award-winning children’s books introduce young readers to classical music and jazz through story, while her scholarly works explore music’s role in shaping culture and politics.
The event is free but seating is limited. Free tickets are available at https://storiedbookery.com/products/anna-celenza-book-talk-signing-on-the-record
