Concert Band & Symphonic Winds in Concert

Join the Concert Band and Symphonic Winds for a joint concert to kick off our spring concert series.

The USM Concert Band is an auditioned ensemble, consisting mostly of undergraduate music majors and non-majors alike. This ensemble performs both traditional and contemporary wind band repertoire, using flexible, rotation-based chair seating, which provides students with a variety of musical responsibilities and performing experiences. Recent ensemble achievements include a Children's Concert for area schools ("Seymour's Great Big Musical Adventure") and the premiere of a new work by composer Joni Greene (Splitting Light). The Concert Band is under the current direction of Dr. Cody Edgerton.

The Symphonic Winds is a distinguished ensemble recognized for its versatility and commitment to artistic excellence. Performing a diverse range of repertoire, the ensemble places particular emphasis on contemporary works written for the collegiate wind band, providing a meaningful and enriching experience for both music majors and non-music majors. The group is currently under the direction of Dr. Travis Higa.
