Guest Artist Masterclass: Otis Murphy, Saxophone

The Georgia State University School of Music welcomes saxophonist Otis Murphy for a guest artist masterclass. Murphy is Professor of Saxophone and Chair of Woodwinds at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he joined the faculty at twenty-eight, one of the youngest appointments in the school's history. He has performed in more than twenty countries across four continents, taking prizes in the Adolphe Sax International Saxophone Competition in Belgium and the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition in France, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall's Isaac Stern Auditorium, Casals Hall in Tokyo and the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. His teaching has taken him to the Paris Conservatory, the Royal College of Music in London and festivals worldwide, and his former students now hold positions in premier military bands and university faculties across the country. Georgia State students will perform for Dr. Murphy and receive coaching in front of an audience. Observers are welcome.
