Aging with Purpose: Hispanic Heritage, Service, and the Power to Create Change is an extraordinary Cafecito gathering that brings together members of the Silver Club Doral and younger generations to engage in meaningful dialogue, share experiences, and celebrate the value of intergenerational connections (in Spanish). The event exemplifies how learning across generations can inspire empathy, strengthen communities, and create positive social change. In celebration of both Hispanic Heritage Month and Changemaking Week, our September Cafecito will feature Dr. Trinidad Argüelles and students as guest speakers, leading a conversation on aging within Hispanic communities and the importance of honoring the wisdom, contributions, and lived experiences of older adults. The program will also include a special Zumba session designed to highlight the importance of mobility, wellness, and active living at every stage of life. Through discussion, service-minded engagement, and interactive activities, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the role that older adults play in our communities while exploring ways to become changemakers who foster inclusion, respect, and connection across generations. The event will take place in Room 2121 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
