Lazarus 3D is a health-tech company that builds realistic, soft-tissue 3D replicas of human organs for three related markets. We make basic surgical training tools for medical schools, residency programs and simulation labs. We provide application specific anatomical models for biomedical companies to test, teach and demonstrate their medical devices without needing cadavers or animal tissue. We design and produce patient-specific models to enable surgeons to practice high-risk, complex surgeries in advance.

What makes us different? Standard 3D printers output rigid plastic. Lazarus 3D uses patented, soft, "viscoelastic" materials that feel, stretch, and cut like actual flesh, muscle, and tumors. Surgeons can cut, suture, cauterize, and scope these models using the exact tools they'll use in the real procedure. Using raw CT scans or MRI data, they construct a 1:1 replica of a specific patient's internal anatomy. Medical device companies can obtain practice models purposefully created to highlight the unique values of their device.

Presenters:

Maggie Tinsley, Production Engineering and OSU BioE alum

Brian Patch, Chief Operating Officer

Maggie and Brian will discuss their experiences in starting careers after college, lessons learned and how some of those decisions have led to the unexpected. There will also be a few interactive 3D models.
