The Center for Studies on Africa and Its Diaspora (CSAD) is recruiting a cohort of ten undergraduate CSAD Ambassadors for the 2026-2027 academic year who will assist the center in its work of celebrating Africa Everywhere through academic scholarship and cultural programming. The primary task for the Ambassadors will be to conceptualize, create, and present an undergraduate creative event for the 2027 CSAD Read-a-Thon scheduled for February 24, 2027. The theme for the year is Black Aquatics: Africa Across Global Waterways. To achieve this purpose, Ambassadors will brainstorm ideas related to the theme, solicit creative input from the student body (this could be poetry, drama, stories, essays, songs, visual artwork, multimodal pieces, etc.), and collaboratively work (with a faculty mentor and a graduate student advisor) to select the final works for the event. This is a great opportunity for students to professionalize in the work of an academic center, to engage in a major collaborative arts production, and to receive a mentoring session from a professional aligned with each student’s intended career.
