Her responsibilities are highly regimented and take an immense physical toll. The hotel where Eve works is a high-end establishment where the employees, nearly all women, have created their own social universe that Eve avoids. The only time she comes alive is when she sneaks away to call back home. Eve wants an education for herself, a better life for her son and a feeling that she has accomplished something.
