The Food and Ideas Gathering (FIG) seminar series aims to foster research collaboration, create community, and engage in conversation about transdisciplinary approaches to issues and solutions within the food system. This is a space where we can gather, learn, brainstorm, and exchange ideas.
FSRI PhD Fellow and Gund Fellow Saadatu Abdul-Rahaman will give a talk about her research titled "Plant-based diets? 'I’m too African for that!'"
Description: What happens when cultural identity meets a global trend like plant-based diets? This talk dives into how identity shapes what Africans living in Vermont think of plant-based diets and eating. Join us for an exploration of how cultural heritage and life experience shapes the plate in this community.
Refreshments and Q&A to follow.
