Sohni Crossing the River to Mahival: Materials and Conservation

Emma Hartman, the Mary Jo and Ted Shen Assistant Conservator of Works on Paper, discusses a recently acquired and conserved Indian painting, Sohni Crossing the River to Mahival. Together, we trace the materials and techniques the artist used to produce this extraordinary work, and we uncover some of the surprises and challenges that surfaced during conservation treatment.
