Author and Illustrator Lauren Emmons: Virtual Speaker Series in Writing, Editing, & Publishing

Join the UND English Department for this fall's featured in talk in our Virtual Speaker Series in Writing, Editing, & Publishing! This fall's talk features children's book author and illustrator Lauren Emmons, who will speak on the history of children's books and picture books. We will also have time for a Q&A for audience questions.

Lauren Emmons' event in the Virtual Speaker Series will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16. In-person attendees can catch the talk in room 406 of the Chester Fritz Library, and online attendees can register using the link on this page to attend via Zoom.

The Virtual Speaker Series in Writing, Editing, & Publishing features fresh perspectives on creative writing, literature, and publishing, directly from writers, artists, illustrators, editors, and publishers. The series supports the mission of the English Department's Certificate Programs in Creative Writing and Writing, Editing, & Publishing.

About Our Featured Author

Lauren Emmons is an illustrator and author of children’s books. They grew up in Minnesota exploring forests and learning important skills like turning the top of an acorn into a loud whistle. While they currently live in North Dakota, they are very passionate and proud of their home city, Minneapolis, and take a great deal of inspiration from their childhood growing up there in their work. They have a Master's Degree in Children’s Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, England, and was an award winner in the World Illustration Awards. Their debut author illustrated book, "No Cats In The Library," was published by Paula Wiseman Books/Simon & Schuster in 2024, and was featured in the inaugural episode of the Reading Rainbow Reboot in 2025!
