Hosted by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences Applied Sociology and Applied Criminology program, the Fall Emersion will explore the Southeast Kansas region studying pregnancy in a medical desert. During this 24 hours, we will tour Pittsburg, Parsons and Independence Kansas to map changes in medical access for maternal care and delivery. Students will share an evening learning from a local OBGYN while also discussing articles and stats about the region WHILE exploring the distances between the regional birthing unit and the cities/towns the hospital services. Students will also have a chance to see local attractions (The Veterans memorial which is a replica of the national Veterans memorial in DC, Big Brutas and The Little House on the Prairie). No cost but your time and attention. Sign up now:)
