~FYE Event~
The Department of Communication is hosting its fourth annual Faculty Research Spotlight on Wednesday, October 14 at 6:00 pm in the Dogwood Room. This is an exciting opportunity for the campus community to learn about the research done by Dr. Haley Nolan-Cody. Dr. Nolan-Cody is an Assistant Professor and new faculty member of the Department of Communication. Dr. Nolan-Cody joins us from Rutgers University where she earned her Doctorate. Specializing in Family and Health Communication, Dr. Nolan-Cody teaches and studies topics at the intersection of family and health communication. Her research appears in outlets such as the Journal of Family Communication, the Journal of Communication, and Patient Education and Counseling.
Dr. Nolan-Cody has been selected to discuss her research topic titled, “Asset or Liability? Communication in the Face of Family Health Crises.” Dr. Nolan-Cody’s research focuses on family health contexts, such as how families might be a site for communicative coping and resilience practices when navigating stigmatized health stressors that place pressure upon the family unit. Specifically, her work has explored behavioral health contexts, including substance use disorders and mental health crises.
