DESCRIPTION:
Join MS Now’s Rachel Maddow and Pete Carroll for a compelling conversation about Maddow's new book, the 2026 midterm elections, and the values that have shaped her extraordinary career. Together, they will explore authenticity, courage, and the pursuit of a higher purpose—how staying true to one's deepest convictions, serving others, and informing society can define success and leave the world better than we found it.

The first 200 students arriving will receive a copy of Maddow's book, Department of Fate: The Promise, the Power, and the Collapse of America's Most Consequential Institution.

What to Expect:
Rachel Maddow will start with a presentation about her new book. Afterwards, Pete Carroll will join her to discuss how her work connects directly to the USC Marshall School of Business course, The Game Is Life. Their conversation will explore how purpose and identity drive excellence, how you prepare to perform at the highest level, and what it means to use your platform in service of something larger than yourself.

This is a rare opportunity for students to learn from one of the most consequential journalists and storytellers of her generation.

Bios:
Rachel Maddow is an American television news program host, author, and political commentator. She is the Emmy and Murrow Award–winning host of The Rachel Maddow Show, a GRAMMY winner, Rhodes Scholar, and bestselling author. Her newest book, Department of Fate: The Promise, the Power, and the Collapse of America’s Most Consequential Institution, examines the history and extraordinary power of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Pete Carroll is an Adjunct Professor at the USC Marshall School of Business and former football coach for USC and the Seattle Seahawks. He is one of only three coaches in American history to win both a college national championship and a Super Bowl. He co-teaches The Game is Life, a course designed to help students develop their personal game plan for life after graduation.

Presented by Win Forever at USC, The Game is Life, the USC Marshall School of Business, and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. Co-sponsored by USC Visions and Voices.
