IceCube, Francis Halzen, and the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics
The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Francis Halzen “for decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin.” In this Physics Club, I will discuss IceCube, its scientific discoveries, its role in neutrino astronomy, and Francis Halzen’s part in this endeavor. I will also share my experience with the project, and a brief summary of what we can look forward to from neutrinos and neutrino astronomy.
