Effective project management requires more than executing a logical sequence of tasks. Persuading people to change the status quo requires appealing to the heart before the head. Jay will share stories from his experiences in consulting and corporate finance.
Jay Koo is a retired corporate finance executive with three decades of experience driving innovation and high-impact solutions within large, complex healthcare organizations. In his most recent position as Executive Director of Finance at Kaiser Permanente, he directed a team overseeing $2 billion in annual operating budgets and 4,300 employees. He also held key roles in assessing and approving early-stage innovations aimed at improving health outcomes.
His earlier work included serving as a Senior Associate in the corporate venture capital division of a major publicly traded technology firm, an analyst for a real estate private equity company, and a management consultant.
Jay currently sits on the Board of Directors for Asian Health Services in Oakland, California, which assists low-income, medically underserved Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from Cornell, where he was a Park Leadership Fellow.
