Poster Session: The News from Nowhere: Protest, Politics, and Campus Life at NIU, 1968-1971

Higher Education and Student Affairs master's students enrolled in HESA 500: Foundations of Higher Education will present posters highlighting archival research projects focused on The News from Nowhere, NIU's underground student newspaper published from 1968 to 1971. Projects examine how national social and political movements of the Vietnam Era intersected with campus life at NIU, including anti-Vietnam War protests, debates surrounding ROTC, the Gay Liberation Movement, Black Panther involvement on campus, and administrative responses to student activism. The reception and student projects are co-sponsored by University Libraries, the Department of Special Collections and Archives, and the Department of Counseling and Higher Education.
