The Dolphins Quartet performs as part of the Emerging String Quartet Program (ESQP).
The Dolphins Quartet is a string quartet and composer collective united by a belief that chamber music can be vibrant, daring, and deeply human. Trained at Juilliard and based in New York City, the quartet has gained recognition for adventurous programming, original compositions, and performances that reimagine the possibilities of quartet playing. In April 2026, they won Gold Prize and Audience Prize at the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition, establishing their presence as a world-class ensemble in the classical music scene. Read more here!
Members:
Luke Henderson – violin
Isaac Park – violin
James Preucil – viola
Ian Maloney – cello
The ESQP provides a young ensemble opportunities similar to what the St. Lawrence String Quartet, ensemble in residence at Stanford University from 1998-2024, enjoyed in their early years through an intensive week of community outreach. The up-and-coming musicians gain valuable experience performing for varied audiences in a short period of time while the greater Stanford community benefits from the input of energy and contact with the young ensemble.
