Join the Asian American Research Center at Stanford (AARCS) for this free public event to launch a new book, "For the Next Generation". This new edited volume brings together the latest scholarship on mental health among Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) youth and addresses how research can be applied to clinical practice.
This panel will include presentations and discussions with contributors to the edited volume, clinicians, and community leaders who will cover topics such as ethnic-racial identity development, ideal affect, and neurodiversity. The discussions will emphasize how we can ensure that evidence-based interventions for AANHPIs are culturally responsive, guided by community perspectives, and integrated with creative, non-traditional approaches. This gathering is for clinicians, researchers, educators, and community leaders who are interested in applying the latest research evidence to direct clinical and creative applications to improve the mental health and well-being of AANHPI youth and young adult populations.
Panelists:
Dr. Janie Hong, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University
Dr. Helen Hsu, President of the American Psychological Association Division 45, Director of Outreach for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Vaden Health Services, Stanford University
Dr. Nancy Liu, Professor of Psychology, University of California Berkeley
Elaine Peng, Founder and Executive Director of Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities (NAMI Chinese)
Dr. Jeanne Tsai, Dunlevie Family Professor, Professor of Psychology, Stanford University
