The Judicial Studies Summer Institute (JSSI), hosted by the Judicial Studies Graduate Degree Program at the University of Nevada, Reno, is a 1-2 week institute where judges can study, network and attend events with other judges and faculty.
JSSI will have two sessions:
Session 1: June 7-11Session 2: June 14-18Judges can come for one week or both. There will be optional entertainment and rejuvenation activities June 4-6 and June 19-20. Judges can take up to 4 courses (12 credits) in those 2 weeks (with preparation before and assignments after).
These are academic courses developed specifically for judges, taught by Ph.D. level instructors (most also with a J.D.) who have hands-on experience with the legal system. Reno is beautiful in June, with lots of festivals, performing arts, the National Finals Rodeo, outdoor activities, Triple-A baseball, the National Bowling Stadium, Lake Tahoe, and, of course, casinos, concerts, and world-class spas and restaurants.
