William Jackson Payne Memorial Concert
Free admission (tickets required)

Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet has inspired some of the most passionate and unforgettable music ever written. In this dynamic collaboration, chamber music powerhouses Boston Brass and Turtle Island String Quartet join forces to present bold new interpretations that trace the story’s sweeping romance and heartbreaking tragedy through music. The program features works by Kabalevsky, Prokofiev, and Elvis Costello—culminating in a thrilling performance of Leonard Bernstein’s iconic West Side Story suite.

Part of American Panorama: Voices of a Nation at 250.

WILLIAM JACKSON PAYNE MEMORIAL CONCERT
The Payne Memorial Concert is named for Dr. William Jackson “Jack” Payne, former Dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, who founded the Franklin College Chamber Music Series in 1978. In honor of his efforts, the Payne Memorial Concert is presented free to the public once each season.

RECEPTION
Please join guests for a complimentary reception in the Performing Arts Center lobby during intermission. Light hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served.
