USC Pacific Asia Museum is honored to welcome monks from the Namgyal Monastery Dharma Center for the creation of a traditional sand mandala. Over four days, the monks will carefully construct an intricate design using colored sand. Once completed, the mandala will be ceremonially dismantled, reflecting the Buddhist teaching that all material things are impermanent.
Visitors are invited to observe the creation of the mandala during the museum hours of 1:00-5:00 PM on weekdays and 11:00-5:00 PM on Saturday. Viewing is included with the museum’s $15 general admission. Learn more about museum admission and visitor information.
The closing dissolution ceremony will be held during our Free Second Sunday program on Sunday, November 8, at 1:00 p.m. Learn more about the Free Second Sunday mandala program and reserve tickets.
Tickets include museum admission.
