It’s love at first shot when a gifted marksman meets a carnival sharpshooter whose appetite for excitement proves impossible to resist. Together they race across postwar America chasing the next thrill, the next robbery, the next narrow escape, bound together by desire and self-destruction. An influence on Breathless and Bonnie and Clyde, this is “a small but perfectly formed black-and-white masterpiece of flash and trash, unwholesome obsession, and criminal daring” (Peter Bradshaw). 35mm print from the Yale Film Archive, made with thanks to the UCLA Film & Television Archive.
