The AY27 Colleagues in Jesuit Education program invites faculty, staff, administrators, and Jesuits into a shared exploration of the distinctive purpose of Jesuit higher education in a rapidly changing world. This year's theme, "On the Purpose of Jesuit Higher Education," emerges from growing conversations about artificial intelligence and the future of education, challenging us to consider what remains uniquely human and uniquely Jesuit about the educational project. Fall 2026 Who We Are and What We Do: Jesuit Higher Education & Human Flourishing President Maura Mast, presenter Date: October 28, 2026 Time: Please join us for wine and appetizers from 3:45-4:10 p.m. Program begins at 4:10 p.m. Location: LeRoux Conference Room (STCN 160) Click here to RSVP This conversation offers SU educators the opportunity to construct together a response to the question is college worth it. As Seattle University prepares for an increasingly complex future, the Colleagues AY27 theme offers an opportunity to articulate a compelling vision of the University's Jesuit mission and its value for our times: that the deepest value of a Jesuit education lies not only in what students know or can do, but in who they become. Through rigorous intellectual formation, meaningful encounter, reflective discernment, and commitment to justice, Jesuit higher education prepares graduates to navigate rapid social change, including emerging technologies in a manner that is grounded in wisdom, purpose, and service to humanity.
