Dr. Joel Goldfield will present his research on Pulitzer Prize winner, Edith Wharton.

Solving issues of mistaken identities and explaining intercultural decisions has motivated much of Dr. Goldfield’s recent research on Edith Wharton, the first female Pulitzer Prize winner (Novel) and Yale University honorary doctorate recipient, who spent over a third of her life in France. Discovering Wharton’s memory culture on site from a U.S. perspective has led to possible explanations of puzzles within Wharton criticism. Support from Fairfield University has enabled photographic documentation of her French residences and related archival materials along with critical analysis using digital humanities tools.
