Hosted by the Humanities Center and featuring faculty fellow, Ever Osorio Ruiz.

This paper re-examines the relationship between writing and politics in our contemporary transmedia landscape. Specifically, by analyzing the writing of feminist movements in Mexico (2010-2020) I explore how the creation of meaning and its inscription into a medium –banners, twitter, walls– operate as an expression of a general intellect, organizes political demands by codifying it in slogans, produces citizenship and expands the public space. A key aspect I explore is how brevity, as a literary and cultural form of these texts, is central for the expression and expansion of these writings and its transmedia circulation in moments of political effervescence.

Respondents include Elsie Campbell from French & Italian + Susana Draper, Professor of Comparative Literature, Princeton University . This event will be hybrid, so you can attend it either in person in 602 CL or via Zoom as you prefer. Precirculated material for this colloquium will be available here about two prior to the event.
