In this presentation, poet, author, and disability advocate LeDerick Horne will draw from his journey as a Black man with a learning disability and more than two decades of advocacy to explore the connections between disability identity, service, and social change. Through poetry, personal stories, disability history, and practical strategies, LeDerick will explore how developing a positive disability identity can serve as a foundation for leadership and service while examining the importance of broadening the disability narrative. Participants will leave with practical ideas for strengthening disability community, creating opportunities for service, and how they can use their own experiences to help shape a richer disability narrative.
