The Georgia State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Wind Orchestra and Concert Band unite for All Together Now — a landmark evening celebrating the music of renowned composer and conductor Carol Brittin Chambers.
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble opens with the world-premiere performance of Dances for the Muse: Terpsichore, conducted by the composer, followed by David Maslanka's monumental Symphony No. 5.
The Wind Orchestra program features Clifton Williams's rousing The Sinfonians, Chambers's lyrical Where the Waters Meet (conducted by Jacob Brown), Timothy Broege's bold Sinfonia V, Percy Grainger's charming Early One Morning led by the winner of the Undergraduate Conducting Competition, Leonard Mark Lewis's Short Stories conducted by Julianna Pinero and Chambers's spirited The Rusty Bucket, conducted by the composer.
The Concert Band closes the evening with Chambers's Fanfare Esprit (2024) conducted by Julianna Pinero, Softly Speaks the Night (2016) conducted by the composer, John Mackey's gripping Undertow (2008) conducted by Jacob Brown and Gustav Holst's majestic Second Suite in F — one of the cornerstones of the wind band repertoire.
