The Judicial Studies Summer Institute (JSSI), hosted by the Judicial Studies Graduate Degree Program at the University of Nevada, Reno, is a 1-2 week institute where judges can study, network and attend events with other judges and faculty. There will be optional entertainment and rejuvenation activities before, during and after the institute. Judges can take up to 4 courses (12 credits) in those 2 weeks (with preparation before and assignments after).
These are academic courses developed specifically for judges, taught by Ph.D. level instructors (most also with a J.D.) who have hands-on experience with the legal system. Reno is beautiful in June, with lots of festivals, performing arts, the National Finals Rodeo, outdoor activities, Triple-A baseball, the National Bowling Stadium, Lake Tahoe, and, of course, casinos, concerts, and world-class spas and restaurants.
