This session offers information and guidance on appropriate and ethical uses of AI in teaching, learning, and research. It familiarizes faculty with UR’s principles and guidelines for teaching with AI, provides practical advice on how to formulate course policies and communicate them to students, and how to adapt course assignments to account for generative AI. The session also covers how to responsibly use generative AI in research and scholarly work and identifies specific practices faculty can adopt to ensure transparency and accountability as well as minimize risk. The talk will discuss AI and non-AI tools available to faculty members and students to help them pursue their teaching and research goals. Presenters Rachel Remmel, Assistant Dean and Director of the Teaching Center and Jonathan Herington, Associate Professor in Health Humanities and Bioethics, will also take questions from participants.
