NSBE Hot Takes: Culture, Community & Conversation
As part of FAMU-FSU NSBE Week, this event will provide members with an engaging space to share their perspectives, discuss cultural topics, and explore different viewpoints within the community. Members will have the opportunity to create and present PowerPoint presentations centered around a cultural topic, personal perspective, or “hot take” that they would like to discuss with the chapter.
Presentation Submission Instructions
Members interested in presenting must prepare a PowerPoint presentation focused on a cultural topic, current issue, community-related discussion, or personal “hot take.” Presentations should encourage conversation and allow members to share differing perspectives in a respectful environment.
Before presenting, members must:

Create their PowerPoint presentation and ensure that the content is appropriate for a chapter-wide audience.

Submit their completed PowerPoint to the designated E-Board member or Membership Chair for review prior to the event.

Submit presentations by the designated deadline so the E-Board has adequate time to review all materials.

Be prepared to present their topic and facilitate a brief discussion with the membership.

Respect differing opinions and maintain a professional and inclusive environment throughout the discussion.

All presentations will be reviewed prior to the event. PowerPoints containing hate speech, discrimination, harassment, threats, or inappropriate commentary will not be approved for presentation. The review process is intended to ensure that the event remains a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment while still allowing members to express honest and diverse perspectives.
Following each presentation, members will have the opportunity to share their thoughts, ask questions, and engage in an open discussion. Members will also participate in an interactive thumbs-up/thumbs-down vote to indicate whether they agree or disagree with the presented “hot take.” The goal is to encourage respectful dialogue, expose members to different perspectives, and strengthen connections within the chapter.
Administrative Updates
In addition to the main discussion, the E-Board will provide several important administrative updates, including:

Membership Dues: A review of membership dues, payment expectations, and the importance of completing membership requirements.

Membership Verification Form: Information on the verification process and how members can ensure their NSBE membership status is properly documented.

Fall Regional Conference: Important information regarding the upcoming Fall Regional Conference, including registration, deadlines, chapter participation, and opportunities for members to attend.

The event is expected to take place on October 27, 2026, from 6:30–8:30 PM in BL Perry room 101. Members are encouraged to come prepared to participate, share their perspectives, and engage in meaningful conversations with fellow NSBE members.
