Who really gets ahead in a market-based economy? Is success a matter of hard work, or luck?
Professor Gary “Hoov” Hoover, Director of The Murphy Institute at Tulane University, will discuss his new book, Ladder or Lottery? Economic Promises and Who Gets Ahead, which explores the social contract between individuals and society. Drawing on his expertise in economics and public policy, Hoover examines whether our economy truly functions as a ladder of opportunity, or more like a lottery with unpredictable outcomes. All UT Dallas students are invited to attend and join the conversation.
