Scream, Queen: Finding Inspiration in Queer Horror
Downloads an .ics file · Times are in America/New_York · Google Calendar
Why do queer audiences embrace horror? The monsters? The camp? Maybe it's the chance to see versions of ourselves in stories about otherness, transformation, and challenging fear?
Join us for a conversation about queer horror, from classic monsters to '80s and '90s breakthroughs to contemporary favorites like I Saw the TV Glow, M3GAN, The Substance, and Leviticus. Together, we'll explore how horror has long resonated with LGBTQIA+ audiences through themes of identity, desire, subversion, and resilience.
Then, try a series of fun, low-pressure poetry writing prompts inspired by the films we love. Explore what scares, fascinates, or attracts you, and turn your ideas into original creative work.
No writing experience is required! Horror fans and curious newcomers are welcome.
