Special Saturday hours for Deyothwadáhseh: Return and Renewal to coincide with the Indigenous Nations Festival. A shuttle will be available to transport guests from the festival grounds to Alumni Hall to visit the exhibition.
Curator Summer Frazier explores connections between historic and contemporary basketry, ceramics, beadwork, twining, and quillwork. At a glance, you will see how some of the artistic practices reflect and respond to a variety of historic moments. The exhibition will showcase works from the Longyear permanent collection, loans from local Nations and institutions, and feature a newly-commissioned work created by Chief Jamie Jacobs, Turtle Clan of the Tonawanda Seneca Nation. The curator’s work is grounded in relational accountability with local Indigenous communities, including the Oneida Indian Nation.
