Music Major for a Day — Voice
Music Major for a Day is a recruitment event that invites prospective students to experience a full day in the life of a music major. Participants observe classes, attend rehearsals, and connect with faculty and current students to get an authentic sense of our program and community. The day helps students envision themselves here while exploring their academic and artistic goals.
We are excited to host another Music Major for a Day! Whether you are just curious about what being a music major is like or focused on coming to SHSU for music, you have come to the right place! We hope this event gives you and your student insight into what it means to be a music major, the degree and career options available to music majors, and what life as a music major at SHSU is like.

We will assign your lesson time upon your arrival.
Excuse Letters – We will provide excuse letters for guests who need them. At check-in, please indicate that you need a letter for missing school that day. Letters will be emailed.
Parking – Two parking garages are near the School of Music (Sam Houston Garage and Coliseum Garage – see Locations above). Street parking is also available, but it fills up quickly. To pay for parking, you will need the ParkMobile app. For more information about rates and locations, visit the SHSU Parking website. For bus parking, please contact Dr. Joshua Bronfman at [email protected].
Lunch – You may bring lunch or eat at the campus food court. The SHSU Lowman Student Center has several dining options, including Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, Subway, Freebirds, and others. Your student guides will take you to the LSC for lunch and will bring you back to the Music Building in time for your classes and lessons.
School GroupsWe accept groups for MMfaD. To attend as a group, the primary chaperone/teacher must register (under “Registration Type,” select “Group Counselor/Teacher”), and each student must complete the registration form (under “Registration Type,” select “Group Student Attendee”).
