Abstract: Nearly every barrel of oil depends on solving a chemistry problem. Eric P. Nelson, VP of Technology at Creedence Energy Services, will explain how chemists handle scale, corrosion, H₂S, and flow problems from the wellhead to the pipeline. He'll connect each one to fundamental chemistry and describe career paths in the field. He'll close with enhanced oil recovery in the Bakken, where chemistry is working to recover the ~90% of oil that current methods leave behind.
