Learn by Doing: Craft & Community

Learn by Doing is your opportunity to get out into campus, nature or the community, get to know other new students, and learn while you’re doing it! No matter which Learn by Doing experience you choose, you'll make memories and build new connections to Beaver Nation. Learn by Doing experiences are open to new incoming first-year and transfer students. For fall 2026, experiences run between Sept. 18 and Nov. 4, and registration opens June 15.

Centered around the creation of a Lino print journal cover, the workshop will provide all necessary materials and guidance, allowing participants of varying experience levels to engage meaningfully in the craft process. The workshop will encourage students to connect with both the tactile nature of printmaking and some of the broader cultural and social contexts of craft. Take home a personalized journal along with the knowledge of where to source local materials, craft workshops and handmade crafts.
