In addition to his research and clinical work, Dr. Matthay is widely recognized for mentoring trainees and early-career faculty. His honors include the American Thoracic Society's Scientific Achievement Award and Trudeau Medal, UCSF's Outstanding Clinical Research Award, and several lifetime achievement awards recognizing his contributions to research, mentorship, and critical care medicine.
