Join us for a lecture by Dr. Sona Kazemi, Professor of Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and author of the book Disabling Relations: Wounded Bodyminds and Transnational Praxis. Dr. Kazemi explores the experiences of disabled survivors of war, political imprisonment, torture, acid attacks, and punitive amputations in Iran. Through a transnational disability studies framework, she examines how disability is shaped not only by individual experiences but also by broader systems of patriarchy, state power, imperialism, and inequality. The talk invites audiences to rethink disability as a social and political phenomenon while imagining new possibilities for care, solidarity, and justice.
