Brain Chemistry and ADHD: What We Know and Where We Are Headed

Brain structure and brain chemistry are crucial components to understanding ADHD and its treatment. Greg Mattingly, M.D., is the President of the American Professional Society of ADHD and Related Disorders (APSARD), has served as consultant to both the NFL and MLB, and is Co-Chair of the U.S. Psych Congress. He has extensively researched ADHD and taught psychopharmacology for more than 20 years. In this seminar he will bring his wealth of knowledge and expertise to present what is known about brain function and ADHD, including how various brain chemicals such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin are involved. He will offer current research findings, will address how medications to treat ADHD are related to brain neuroanatomy and neurotransmitters, and will discuss new and upcoming medication options. The presentation will also include information on brain neuroplasticity, environmental influences, accompanying diagnoses, and the new adult guidelines for diagnosing ADHD.
