Dr. Kala earned her medical degree from Lady Hardinge Medical Colleg in Delhi, India. She completed internal medicine residency training at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center and obtained advanced training through fellowships in nephrology at UTHealth McGovern Medical School and in onco-nephrology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
