The Tenement Museum: The Saez Velez Family - A Virtual Experience

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and in support of America250, students are invited to explore the story of the Saez Velez family, a Puerto Rican family that migrated to New York City’s Lower East Side. Through the renowned Tenement Museum’s virtual tour of their living quarters, participants will gain an immersive look into the challenges, hopes, and everyday experiences of Puerto Ricans who, as United States citizens, made the U.S. their home during the 1950s. This virtual experience offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the diverse narratives that have shaped the American story. Together, we honor the resilience, cultural richness, and enduring contributions of Hispanic communities throughout our nation’s history.
