Fellowships for Filmmakers

Join us for Fellowships for Filmmakers—an information session led by Jill Carrera, designed to help Yale students identify and pursue funding opportunities for film and media projects. Whether you are developing a short film, documentary, experimental work, or a larger creative endeavor, this session will provide practical guidance on finding and applying for fellowships, grants, and other sources of support. Students will learn about funding opportunities available during the academic year, over summer breaks, and even after graduation. The session will also cover strategies for building competitive applications and identifying programs that align with different stages of a filmmaker's creative development. This event is focused on undergraduate opportunities and is in-person only. Whether you are just beginning to explore funding possibilities or are actively planning a project, this session offers an excellent opportunity to learn how fellowships can help sustain your creative work during your time at Yale and beyond. About Jill Carrera: Jill Carrera serves as the Senior Associate Director of Fellowships and Funding at Yale where she advises students and alumni pursuing nationally and internationally competitive fellowships, scholarships, grants, and research opportunities. She works closely with students across disciplines to help them identify funding pathways that support academic, creative, public service, and professional goals. Through her extensive experience mentoring applicants and reviewing proposals, Jill has helped students secure support for a wide range of projects, including film, media, arts, research, and community-engaged work. This event is free and open to Yale students. Registration is not required. Participants will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, and room capacity limits will apply.
