Concerto Competition

Miami University’s Department of Music will hold the final round of its 2026–27 Annual Concerto Competition on Tuesday, November 3, at 4:30 p.m. in Hall Auditorium. The annual competition showcases some of Miami’s outstanding student performers and offers winners the opportunity to appear as featured soloists with one of the Department of Music’s major ensembles. Traditionally, selected winners perform with the Miami University Symphony Orchestra during the spring semester. The competition welcomes performers from across the Department of Music, including instrumentalists and vocalists. Students advance through preliminary or semifinal rounds conducted within their respective performance areas, with finalists announced Monday, October 26. The final round provides an opportunity for the Miami community to hear accomplished student musicians performing instrumental and vocal repertoire while competing for the opportunity to perform with a major ensemble. A jury of distinguished artists not connected with Miami University is responsible for the final decisions
