This is the second event in Ka'a Harmony's Amazon Meets Berlin series, tracing Amazon products back to the communities and stories behind them. After cocoa, this evening follows the pirarucu, one of the largest freshwater fish in the world.

In the Médio Juruá region of the Brazilian Amazon, riverside communities manage the pirarucu themselves, protecting the fish and sharing the benefits of its sustainable use. Their model is recognised internationally as an example of community-led conservation. This evening explores a central question: how can the economic use of a species help its population recover?

We'll watch a short film about community-based fish management in the Médio Juruá, which also gives a glimpse of the women behind it. Afterwards, João Silva, Director of Instituto Juruá will join us in person in Berlin for a conversation and Q&A.

🌱 Free and open to the public (donations are welcome, but not mandatory)📍Hosted at Medulla
