Our Intelligence, Whose Power? Who Should Control and Benefit From AI in Ghana?

Artificial intelligence is transforming how we work, learn, create and organize our societies. But as AI systems increasingly draw upon our collective knowledge, creativity, labour and data, a fundamental question emerges: Who controls this intelligence, and who benefits from the value it creates?
Following October's conversation, What Will Ghana Own in the Age of AI?, the November edition of AI Watch takes the discussion further. Ownership is only part of the struggle for technological sovereignty. We must also examine who makes decisions about technology, whose interests those decisions serve, and how ordinary people can participate in shaping our digital future.
Drawing on Africa's history of struggles for political and economic self-determination, this gathering will explore what it means to place intelligence in common and ensure that technological development serves the people.
Through engaging panel discussions and participatory workshops, we will examine the relationship between AI, collective knowledge, democratic governance and public power.
Your voice will help shape the Accra Declaration on Intelligence and Technological Sovereignty, a people-centred framework being developed through the Beyond AI Initiative to advance Africa's technological self-determination.
Whether you are a student, worker, entrepreneur, artist, researcher, policymaker or simply curious about AI, this conversation belongs to you.
The future of intelligence must be shaped by the people whose knowledge makes it possible.
Join us as we move beyond AI to imagine, debate and build a future rooted in our collective intelligence.
Participation is free. Registration is required.
